The number of so called exotic pets in veterinary practice increases constantly. Birds and small mammals are allready clients for many years, however reptiles are getting more and more into the hands of veterinarians and knowledge is increasing constantly. This course will give an overview about basic and advanced techniques which have been used and developed in a daily “exotic practice” for over 30 years. The focus will be put on reptile medicine, however some selected cases in birds and small mammals as well as selected techniques and surgical procedures, which have been found very helpful will be demonstrated, because many veterinarians see the whole variety of these species. The course is built up on a large number of video clips, starting from anatomic and physiological peculiarities over sample collection to different surgical procedures.
